An alleged burglar is recovering in a Chicago-area hospital after confronting an armed man inside a local business late on the evening of April 9, 2023.
At 11:50 p.m., a man inside the closed business heard a noise at the back door of the building. When he arrived to investigate the sound, he found the 18-year-old suspect attempting to break into the shop. The man, who possessed a valid Illinois Firearm Owner Identification Card and concealed-carry license, drew his handgun and fired at the alleged burglar, wounding him in the leg.

As a gun-wielding youth was in the process of holding up Ernest Duncan’s grocery store in Kansas City, Kan., Duncan’s wife entered the store. The youth’s attention was distracted momentarily—just long enough for Duncan to reach under the counter and produce his pistol. He disarmed the gunman and held him for police.
