Earlier this month, a Cleveland man defended himself with a gun against a robber who broke into his home early one morning.

Eddie Henderson III, 26, says that he heard an intruder opening and closing drawers in his house, but he was able to stop the man from stealing anything by using his weapon.

Around 11:40am on April 7, the break in occurred.

After hearing the noise, Henderson armed himself and went downstairs to see what was going on.  He found a man in his hallway and shot at him, wounding him in the shoulder.

The robber then fled towards the bathroom and locked the door.

Meanwhile, Henderson approached the bathroom and fired several rounds through the door.

“Please don’t shoot, please don’t shoot,” Henderson said the robber yelled.  “I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you.”

The robber then escaped out the window, but police said the bathroom was covered in blood.

Apparently, the would-be robber had served Henderson at a pizza shop before, as Henderson said he believe he recognized him.

Henderson had previously worked at a barber shop and the owner required all his barbers to obtain a concealed carry license for their own protection.

“It’s a cold world out there,” Henderson said.

Ha!  It’s a bit colder when people refuse to be victims of criminals, whether they are people in your community breaking in your home or government representatives who are attempting to make you a victim by infringing on your right to keep and bear arms.

However, while it is telling that Henderson got his concealed carry permit, something that really isn’t necessary considering our right to keep and bear arms is protected under the Second Amendment, the barber shop he worked at was not the first to demand such a thing.

In February 2016, I reported on Lance Toland,  owner of Lance Toland Associates with several offices in Georgia that insure aircrafts worldwide, who required his employees to get their concealed carry license and to be armed.

However, once they obtain their license, Toland presents them with a special gift:  A Taurus Judge!

I would love to see more and more businesses encouraging their employees to exercise their right to keep and bear arms not only because it is good for the business, but because it is good for the employees!  The only thing I would press for is to eliminate this idea that we need permission from government via a permit to exercise a constitutionally protected, God-given right.
