The STK100 from Rock Island Armory, the import firm of Filipino company Armscor, offers Glock-style compatibility with enhancements that make it an interesting option in today’s growing list of semi-automatic handguns.

Built on an aluminum frame machined with ergonomic elements designed to enhance any shooting experience, the STK100 also incorporates an inner steel chassis, enhancing the gun’s rigidity and providing steel-on-steel contact for the slide assembly. The grip frame is a two-piece unit that clamps around aforementioned steel support system.

The slide is machined from 4140 steel and treated with a Parkerized finish, and the gun’s aluminum grip frame is treated with a similarly colored anodized finish, which gives an uniform matte-black appearance. There’s also a milled slot in the slide that is compatible with many of today’s micro red-dot sights. Rock Island ships its STK100 with non-adjustable fixed sights.

One of the noticeable benefits of the STK100’s all-metal design was that the added weight made it easy to shoot on the range. Our testers enjoyed the manufacturer’s blend of Glock-style controls combined with ergonomic features that helped to better position the hand for natural aiming, which is a boon to shooters looking for a fast-handling gun for every day work or those who wish to try a hand at the competitive circuit.
