Does the federal government have unilateral power to call forth the militia? During the War of 1812, New England states not only said no, but they used the principles of the 10th Amendment to actively interpose and resist federal demands for mobilizing the militia.

I have been pounding the drum for the men of the US to form community militias for some time now.  Recently, as we see the president unconstitutionally call up a federalized militia, which the framers would have stood against, to invade cities to allegedly “get the illegals“, which we see is not necessarily the case, the Tenth Amendment Center shared a story that many have never heard and it was the militia telling the president at the time, James Madison who was the father of the Constitution, that they would not submit to the feds’ lawless attempt to use the militia in a lawless fashion.
