Aridus Industries, an innovative shotgun centric accessory company based in Harrisburg, PA, has just released a new aftermarket shotgun magazine tube follower, the SMRT-Aridus Follower.

The Aridus follower is turned from 4140 steel and is finished in black nitride. The nitride finish allows the follower to glide easily down the magazine tube of your shotgun, while the 4140 steel is tough enough to prevent galling, bending or flexing that might compromise the reliability of your shotgun. Aridus also put bright green textured aluminum on the face of their follower in order for a shotgun shooter to feel the difference the back of a shotgun shell from the back of the follower itself. This follower was designed to fit almost any shotgun and has been tested in the following shotguns: Beretta 1301, Benelli M4, Remington 870, Mossberg 940, 835 and 500/590.

“One issue seen in tube fed shotguns with magazine extensions is follower hangup at the transition from tube to extension,” says Adam Roth, the founder of Aridus Industries. “If the rear edge of the follower doesn’t have a gradual enough transition, the follower can get hung up and not move past the transition, effectively negating the tube extension. If the outside diameter contact points of the follower are too close together or too small diameter, the follower can tilt within the tube and the front edge of the follower can hang up on the transition on the way back out of the extension and will no longer feed rounds. We went through MANY revisions to dial in the perfect transition at the rear to cleanly glide past even the most brutal shotgun extension transitions.”
