LAW Tactical, the small company best known for its folding-stock adapter for AR-15 pattern firearms, has started selling its new ARIC AR-15 bolt carrier group. The LAW Tactical ARIC (AR Internal Carrier) is a novel approach at removing the traditional recoil spring and weighted buffer set that is typically found inside an AR’s receiver extension (aka the buffer tube).

LAW Tactical engineered this new style of bolt carrier group because, as originally designed, an AR-15 pattern firearm cannot fire with the stock folded and closed if it has the LAW Tactical folding stock adapter, the company’s flagship product, installed. In order to cycle the action, the carrier must be in line with the recoil and buffer. The ARIC solves this issue by dissecting the bolt carrier into halves and incorporating a pair of sprung guide rods that the forward half of the bolt carrier rides on. During the firing cycle, instead of the entire bolt carrier group moving all the way back into the buffer tube area, only the forward half of the ARIC’s carrier glides back towards its rear half while providing enough clearance to cycle the AR’s action correctly. This includes extraction, ejection, stripping off an unfired cartridge from the magazine and locking into the breech again.

The LAW Tactical ARIC is designed to work as drop-in unit and does not require any tools to install. The unit is placed into the receiver the same way any other bolt carrier would be placed. Depending on caliber selection and intended use, LAW Tactical offers two versions of the ARIC, the C and the M. The M model is meant primarily for unsuppressed firearms whereas the C model is largely meant for suppressed shooting.
