Taurus Issues Safety Notice For GX4 Pistols
Taurus issued a safety notice for certain GX4 pistols assembled and sold in the United States just before Memorial Day weekend and, in an abundance of caution, is asking owners to immediately stop using the pistol, safely unload it and then enter the pistol’s serial number at GX4SafetyNotice.com to determine if it is affected. Owners who have already checked are now also being urged to return to the website to verify their firearm isn’t among the few that have been added to the list in the past few days.
Under certain circumstances, some GX4s manufactured in the United States can discharge when dropped. For that reason, owners should discontinue use until verifying it is not among those affected. Handguns not included in this notice can be safely used.
Simply enter the gun’s serial number on the web page to learn if a GX4 is subject to this notice. The serial number is located on the rear of the pistol. A prompt also informs owners if the pistol is not affected. Those included in this notification will receive instructions on how to return the firearm for inspection and modification—if any is necessary.

The company will inspect, repair if necessary and return and affected GX4, free of charge. Purchasers of a GX4 who no longer have the pistol are encouraged to forward this notification to the current owner.
“We understand that this is an inconvenience to you,” the company wrote in the safety notice. “Thank you for your patience and cooperation.”
The GX4 was introduced in May 2021. The micro-compact pistol chambered in 9 mm Luger quickly become a popular option for daily carry. A number of variants have been introduced since then, including the T.O.R.O. optics-ready version.
