Following the horrific and truly heartbreaking mass shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas last Friday, it is no surprise that gun control advocates and the political left have once again mobilized to advance increased gun control measures. Sadly, this phenomenon is in itself almost a big yawn, in that we’ve heard the tired, misguided rhetoric too many times.

How about instead of constantly trying to shield our little snowflakes by locking our guns “safely away,” which only reinforces to them how scary they are, we instead, as responsible parents, teach them to respect firearms.

Guns don’t kill people. Ideas, however, do. We can’t criminalize ideas, but the spectacle of the very corporations and media personalities who are causing these deaths lecturing us self-righteously on the need to give up the Bill of Rights is truly repugnant.

So where is the media reporting on all the stories of gun owners lawfully using their weapons to defend and protect life?

Perhaps, if these Hollwood elites would do a little reading of their history, they might conclude that they are completely on the wrong path and that their ideology is anything but American, until then, it appears they are only firing obvious blanks when it comes to their attacks on the Second Amendment.

Borrowing from the old American Express commercial: Your personal defense gun: Don’t leave home without it. And I would add one more proverb: Your liberty defense gun (the AR-15 and similar semi-automatic rifles): Don’t ever surrender it.

It is a mercy of God that we are still in a position to right the wrongs by remaining armed. America’s sin is before God (Numbers 32:23), and until America repents and turns from her wicked ways, the judgments of God are not only going to continue, they are going to increase (Leviticus 26:14-39).

I wonder how many pastors across the country even bother to mention the significance of this day from their pulpits. Worse, I wonder how many people in the congregation even miss it when they don’t.

Shocking to many modern-day pastors, ministers, and Christians alike is the location of the guns and munitions of the Colonists. The arsenal of this freedom-loving militia was in the Church Meeting House on Lexington Green.

Progressives who are sincerely concerned about protecting minorities from oppressive government should join libertarians and constitutional conservatives in defending the Second Amendment.
