The flood of illegal (non-government-approved) firearms is exploding. The Small Arms Survey estimates that there are nearly a billion firearms held in private hands, with almost 100 million of them in Europe.
Treating nice people like criminals isn’t likely to enhance respect for the law.
Bill C-71 has been referred to the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence for review. One source indicates the bill is expected to pass into law by early spring of next year.
Here in the UK, we are experiencing a frightening violent crime wave, despite all the lies we were told, assuring us that our current gun-ban would reduce crime. Many of these violent crimes involve guns, all of which are technically illegal, but apparently not when in the hands of illegal immigrants.
While Bill Blair and his politically opportunistic sidekicks want you to believe otherwise, all event attendees obeyed the law at all times, at all locations, and while travelling from one location to the other.
As if more evidence is needed that bans don’t work, the United Kingdom’s knife crime “epidemic” is soaring. Even though there are incredibly strict knife control laws in the UK, public officials are declaring the knife violence a public health crisis.
Rather than earning prestige for their onerous gun laws, Australia is achieving notoriety among many Americans for their state and federal governments’ increasingly petty attacks on gun owners. It is at least encouraging that in the midst of this gun control onslaught there are still a handful of Australian politicians that, in the face of unrelenting opposition, oppose further burdening their law-abiding constituents.
