Jiu-Jitsu Cop Fights Suspect With Gun (Video)
Video was captured of a Louisville police officer using Jiu-Jitsu he learned in order to defend himself against an armed suspect.

This was WILD! In our Gracie Survival Tactics (GST) program for law enforcement, we actually teach several submission counters (Guillotine Counters, Triangle Counters, RNC Counters, etc.) in case an officer ever finds themselves in an altercation against a suspect who has some BJJ or MMA training.

Last Sunday, August 18, at 2am, Louisville Metro PD Officer Mason Barnes put his GST to work when he found himself in a ground fight against an armed suspect. Instead of panicking, Officer Barnes was able to remain in control from the bottom of the fight, and use the “Triangle Set-up” position that we teach in GST to neutralize the attack and retain control of the suspect’s gun-side arm until help arrived.
We’re very proud of Officer Barnes and have extended an invitation to sponsor him to any upcoming GST course where he can learn the SafeWrap system.
