New for 2022: Savage Arms Impulse Mountain Hunter
When the Savage Impulse hit the market in 2021, it filled a hole in the market for a precision, American-made straight pull. Now, Savage Arms has released a model redesigned with an eye toward weight, for those who push limits in the backcountry. The Savage Impulse Mountain Hunter weighs in right around 7.3 pounds empty, a savings of about 1.5 pounds over previous models. This is thanks in no small part to its carbon-fiber-wrapped stainless steel barrel from Proof Research, and the use of a polymer bottom-metal. The gun comes chambered in calibers meant for big game, including .308 Winchester; 28 Nosler; .30-06 Springfield; .300 Winchester Magnum; .300 Winchester Short Magnum; 6.5 Creedmoor; and 6.5 PRC.
