In pursuing their local gun control ordinances, Peduto and his anti-gun allies have demonstrated an extraordinary indifference to state law, judicial precedents, and the taxpaying constituents who will foot the bill for this political grandstanding.

The government doesn’t have to prove a crime at all.  They just have to lay out a case of subjective claims that the individual is “dangerous” and shouldn’t have a gun.

Expect anti-gun politicians to introduce a slew of so-called “common-sense gun measures” — a misleading phrase that gun control activists use in hopes that the public and the media will avoid questioning the bills’ enforceability, efficacy, intrusiveness or necessity.

On December 5th, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, a group backed by out-of-state elites, announced it will pursue its most extreme anti-gun legislative agenda to date during the upcoming 2019 Washington Legislative Session.  

While the Democrats’ gun control push will not prevent mass shootings, it will criminalize a grandfather for passing his goose gun to his grandson without government permission. It will also criminalize a mother who gives her college-age daughter a revolver for self-defense without first getting government permission.

Much remains unsettled about the political landscape we will face in the coming two years. But this much is certain—more intense battles over the Second Amendment are in front of us.

The signs will read, “WARNING: The presence of a firearm in the home significantly increases the risk of suicide, homicide, death during domestic violence disputes and unintentional deaths to children, household members and others.”

This virtue signaling will surely please the left, without solving a single problem. But that’s not really the issue here. Evidently, neither is sales and revenue.

Not only was Stevens wrong about the meaning of the Second Amendment.  He’s also wrong that recognition of the individual right has led to negative effects from “increasing gun use in this country.”
