An armed trespasser suffered from serious wounds after forcing his way into a Phoenix, Ariz., home early on the morning of Aug. 10, 2023.
Police responded to a call shortly before 1 a.m., arriving to find a man suffering from a “serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wound.” Investigators learned the man allegedly broke into the house, only to find an armed homeowner inside who opened fire once the man entered. Police did not arrest the homeowner and have said they believe the shooting was self-defense. (12 News; Phoenix, Ariz.; 8/10/23)

A teenager who had reportedly twice raped a neighborhood woman at knife point was seriously wounded when he returned to the same Phoenix, Ariz. area and invaded the bedroom of another intended victim, Bessie Clark, 21. As he fumbled in the darkness, she shot him with a .22-cal. revolver. (Phoenix, Ariz., Republic)
