FN America is reviving the High Power pistol with updates and outright changes that set it far apart from clones of the classic offered by other makers.

The 40-oz., steel-frame FN High Power redesign begins with black PVD and flat dark earth finishes along with stainless steel. A more contemporary style of lockup between the barrel hood and ejection port is said to better handle modern 9 mm Luger loads, and takedown is now by way of a rotating latch. Magazine capacity has been increased to 17 rounds, and bilateral slide-release and safety controls, along with a reversible magazine release, have been engineered to allow for true bilateral operation.

The traditional magazine disconnect has been eliminated for a better trigger pull. Machined checkering on the steel frame’s frontstrap and on the seven available sets of G10 or wood stocks combine with an extended beavertail to keep the new High Power firmly in hand and eliminate hammer bite, respectively. Steel, drift-adjustable sights are compatible with the FN 509 pistol.
