Remington Ammunition has given sportsmen in states with straight-wall hunting regulations, particularly those who favor lever-action rifles, a potent, yet soft-shooting, new chambering for the short-range harvesting of deer-size game, hogs and even black bears.
The new 360 Buckhammer cartridge has external ballistics similar to those of the venerable .30-30 Win.—but while employing heavier, 0.358″-diameter bullets—yet its case design permits its use in those Midwestern states that mandate straight-wall rifle cartridges for hunting, and its rimmed case head makes it ideal for reliable operation through lever guns and (eventually) revolvers.
Initial offerings from Remington include 180-grain and 200-grain soft-point Core-Lokt loads, while Federal has already jumped on board with two of its own Power-Shok loads, and Henry has added 360 Buckhammer-chambered options to several of its rifle lines.
