Maxim Defense, based out of St. Cloud, MN, is introducing their new PRS Suppressor, which joins their existing MSX suppressor product line. All MSX suppressors, including these new PRS Suppressors are designed to mitigate any increase in cyclic rate and the gas blowback of any suppressed firearm in addition to providing an overall reduction of flash and sound.

“The DNA of the PRS comes directly from our hugely successful M240 suppressor,” said Dave Larson, Executive Vice Present of Sales and Marketing, Maxim Defense. “We utilized the same technology and engineering of the M240 to manufacture this serviceable, lightweight, incredibly quiet suppressor. The PRS is the perfect companion for your next hunt.”

The Maxim Defense PRS suppressor was ultimately designed around being a lightweight suppressor that is both suitable for hunting and PRS (Precision Rifle Series) style shooting competitions by providing a high strength to weight ratio. In addition to this, the suppressor adds just 7½ ounces of weight to the end of a rifle’s barrel. The core of the suppressor uses Maxim Defense’s MonoKore three-part design that can be disassembled with common tools and is not difficult to maintain or to service.

Though specific noise reduction levels are dependent on the firearm, barrel length, atmospheric conditions and ammunition being used, Maxim Defense was able to MIL STD 1474D noise level reductions using a bolt action test rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with an 18 inch barreled to an average of 131.9 dB, as measured at the shooter’s left ear.
