First Look: TenPoint Turbo S1

The Turbo S1, from TenPoint, is ready to take on turkey season. The crossbow features some of TenPoint’s latest technologies—including the AcuSlide cocking and de-cocking system—while delivering speeds of 390 fps with a 400-grain bolt. A forward-draw crossbow, the Turbo S1 measures just 31-inches long without its stirrup, and just 7.2-inches wide.

The AcuSlide features the company’s Auto-Brake Gear System, which allows for silent cocking and safe and controlled de-cocking of the crossbow. The Auto-Brake Gear System reduces the potential of losing control, which can lead to injury or costly bow damage during the cocking or de-cocking process. While cocking and de-cocking with the AcuSlide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required, and the handle will stop in place. The crank handle reduces cocking effort to five-pounds and stores securely into the butt-stock.

Fueled by RX6-Cams, the forward-draw bow-assembly is the difference maker for TenPoint’s shortest traditional crossbow, as the cam system rotates 340-degrees. The assembly’s Vector-Quad cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two, which helps eliminate cam lean and generates straight-nock travel leading to greater downrange accuracy.

The Turbo S1 features the company’s S1 trigger. This two-stage, zero-creep design features a roller-sear system that delivers a consistently crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The trigger is equipped with a DFI (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip and alignment to reduce noise and vibration. An integrated string stop system is also included to further reduce noise and vibration.

The crossbow has an ultra-short 19.5-inch Micro Trac fluted-aluminum barrel, which reduces the flight deck surface by 50 percent. The minimal string-to-barrel contact increases accuracy and provides the longest string-life in the industry.

The barrel is fastened to the ultra-light, two-piece Tec-Tac stock that features multiple weight-reducing cutouts, as well as a hollow pocket that houses the AcuSlide cocking and de-cocking system. The stock’s drop at comb and combines with the RangeMaster Pro Scope to yield eye-level alignment.
