When Colt first started bringing back its famous line of “snake guns,” starting with the .38 Spl. Cobra model (reviewed here), consumers began asking for the most famous of the Colt snake guns: the Python. Colt teased revolver fans a bit with the launch of the King Cobra in 2019 (reviewed here), one of the company’s other .357 Mag. revolver options. However, in January 2020, the wait ended with the re-launch of the world-famous Colt Python revolver.

Now for the 2024 SHOT Show, Colt is building on the legacy of this legendary double-action revolver by making it available with a blued finish in 4.25- and 6-inch barrel lengths. This latest Python features a deep, rich finish, a recessed target crown, user-interchangeable front sight, and the walnut grips with the iconic Colt medallion make this a gun you’ll want to shoot and show off. The Python is chambered in .357 Mag. and also accommodates 38 Spl. cartridges.
