John Lott has taken upon himself the mantle of defender of the 2^nd Amendment and over the years he has suffered the many slings and arrows of the left. However, none of this has stopped him. He continues to move forward, defending gun rights using logic, facts and hard scientific data to support our conservative conclusions on gun rights.

The Left has continued, undeterred, with their campaign against freedom by constantly lobbing emotion-based attacks against our Bill of Rights. Whenever some deranged lunatic uses a firearm to hurt innocent people, the liberals around the nation rise up to demonize the millions of legal, law abiding gun owners who have never hurt anyone. While they continue to use the blood of innocents to advance their own anti-freedom causes, we conservatives stand steadfast against them, presenting the truth about violent crime and the realities of the importance of being able to defend ourselves.

In the wake of the shootings at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, the left has resurrected their own misguided cries to end our ability to defend ourselves against criminals. Which is why John Lott has written another well sourced, and fact based article exposing the truth about the liberal lies on gun control.

 Since at least 1950, all but two public mass shootings in America have taken place where general citizens are banned from carrying guns. In Europe, there have been no exceptions. Every mass public shooting — and there have been plenty of mass shooting in Europe — has occurred in a gun-free zone. In addition, they have had three of the six worst K–12 school shootings, and Europe experienced by far the worst mass public shooting perpetrated by a single individual (Norway in 2011, which from the shooting alone left 67 people dead and 110 wounded).

The deterrent and life-saving effects of concealed-handgun laws on mass public shootings aren’t just anecdotal. Bill Landes of the University of Chicago and I gathered data on mass public shootings from 1977 to 1999. We studied 13 different types of gun-control laws as well as the impact of law enforcement, but the only law that had a statistically significant impact on mass public shootings was the passage of right-to-carry laws. Right-to-carry laws reduced both the frequency and the severity of mass public shootings; and to the extent to which mass shootings still occurred, they took place in those tiny areas in the states where permitted concealed handguns were not allowed.

You can go along with the liberal, touchy-feely (but wrong) belief that stripping every American of the right to defend themselves will make us safer. (How has this idea worked in prisons where violence reigns supreme even though every conceivable weapon is also banned?) Or you can listen to the facts, consider the logic and follow the evidence that conservatives have provided to come to the right conclusion… guns in the hands of law abiding responsible citizens, save lives.
