More Preposterous Claims from President Biden

President Joe Biden (D), once again, put on display his penchant for telling falsehoods about the Second Amendment, firearms and more at a recent fundraising event.

“There’s a lot of things we can change, because the American people by and large agree you don’t need a weapon of war. I’m a Second Amendment guy. I taught it for four years, six years in law school. And guess what? It doesn’t say that you can own any weapon you want. It says there are certain weapons that you just can’t own. Even during when it was passed, you couldn’t own a cannon. You can’t own a machine gun.… No, I’m serious,” said Biden.

Biden’s claim that he is a “Second Amendment guy” couldn’t be further from the truth, as his record proves quite the opposite. Since taking office, he has advocated for the most-restrictive gun-control measures possible, and this particular set of remarks proves that.

Furthermore, his claims that the AR-15—which he wants to ban along with a long list of other firearms—is a “weapon of war” is also false. Despite the mainstream media often repeating this claim, it is a myth. Never mind that Biden has also labeled one of the most-popular semi-automatic handguns as a “weapon of war,” too.

And, as America’s 1st Freedom previously reported, yes, citizens could and did own cannons at the time the Second Amendment was written; in fact, Americans still own them today. And, of course, Biden is “serious,” too, as he is fond of adding.

Biden didn’t stop there.

“You know, I love these guys who say the Second Amendment is—you know, the tree of liberty is water with the blood of patriots. Well, if [you] want to do that, you want to work against the government, you need an F-16. You need something else than just an AR-15,” he added.

For starters, the quote Biden butchers is from a letter penned by Thomas Jefferson. Here’s what it actually says: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

It seems Biden conveniently omitted the part about tyrants.

“That a prospective president of the United States would talk in this manner is, in and of itself, appalling. But that a man with more than 50 years’ worth of political experience remains unaware of the advantage that private gun ownership confers upon the citizenry is little short of astonishing,” wrote Charles C.W. Cooke for America’s 1st Freedom in reference to nearly identical comments Biden has made before.

What’s even more incredible is that Biden gave these remarks on the very day it was announced his son, Hunter, made a deal with Biden’s own Department of Justice when faced with felony gun charges; a deal that will likely see him avoid jail time entirely.

On that issue, the White House said, “The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life. We will have no further comment.”

As former Peruvian President Oscar Benavides put it, “For my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law.”
