Springfield Armory expanded its Emissary 1911 lineup with two new models, a 9 mm Luger-chambered model joining the full-size .45 ACP model that launched the product family and a compact .45 ACP-chambered version with a 4.25″ barrel. With these additions, the Emissary lineup of 1911s from Springfield expands into a full-featured family, with caliber options and barrel lengths designed to answer the demands of today’s firearm enthusiasts.

The Emissary lineup from Springfield launched with a particular goal: to offer consumers a 1911 pistol with custom styling and custom enhancements at the price of a production pistol. As a result, the Springfield Armory Emissary is host to a number of desirable features, ranging from a forged steel frame, slide and barrel to a “Tri-Top” slide cut and an attractive two-tone finish. At launch, these guns also featured a heavy bull barrel, U-Dot night sights, a skeletonized hammer, flat-faced trigger, a frame-mounted Picatinny accessory rail and more.

All of these features are retained the 9 mm and 4.25″ line extensions, but the new offerings bring an incredibly popular caliber to the collection, as well as a shorter design that lends itself to compact carry. The 9 mm Emissary measures 8.4″ long, 5.25″ high and features a 5″ forged stainless-steel barrel with a 1:16″ twist rate. The gun is equipped with a full-length, one-piece guide rod. Unloaded, the 9 mm variant weighs in at 44 ozs. Each pistol ships with two nine-round magazines.

The 4.25″ Emissary model chambered for .45 ACP only measures 7.75″ long, 5.25″ high and includes a Commander-length recoil system. The gun weighs 38.5 ozs., unloaded, and ships with two eight-round magazines. As on the 9 mm model, the 4.25″ match-grade barrel on the shortened .45 ACP model is made from forged stainless steel and features a fully supported ramp and a 1:16″ twist rate.

Suggested retail pricing on both the 4.25″ .45 ACP model and the full-length 9 mm model is $1,279. For more information, visit springfield-armory.com.
