New For 2021: Springfield Armory SAINT Edge ATC
Springfield Armory improved upon the classic AR-15 receiver design with a monolithic construction its calling the Accurized Tactical Chassis (ATC), which provides a rock-solid platform for precision shooting while still maintaining commonality with many AR-15 components. The Springfield SAINT Edge ATC’s construction provides a true free-floated barrel that completely isolates the barrel, barrel nut and gas system from the unique chassis for guaranteed sub-m.o.a. performance.
Making the SAINT Edge ATC stand out within the crowded AR-15 market is its monolithic lower receiver, which is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and ensures the barreled upper-receiver assembly is isolated to maximize performance. Paired with this monolithic lower is an upper receiver complete with an 18″ Ballistic Advantage barrel featuring a 1:7″ twist rate and chambered in .223 Wylde. Because of this design, Springfield Armory guarantees that, in the hands of a skilled shooter, each SAINT Edge ATC rifle will produce sub-m.o.a. three-shot groups using factory match-grade ammunition.
Enhancements don’t stop there, though. Crowning the barrel is a Springfield Armory muzzle brake to reduce recoil, and the gun’s built with an enhanced bolt-carrier group that’s been shot-peened and magnetic-particle-inspected to ensure durability. Each rifle is also equipped with Springfield’s Accu-Tite Plus system, which eliminates play between the two receiver halves. The guns are equipped with a B5 Systems pistol grip and stock, and two different precision stocks are offered, depending on the model selected. A SOPMOD stock ships with the all-black Edge ATC, while the Elite model is equipped with a B5 Precision stock.
In addition to an upgraded stock, the Springfield SAINT Edge ATC Elite is equipped with a LaRue Tactical Flat Two-Stage Trigger and a coyote-brown finish. The standard Edge ATC retails at a suggested MSRP of $1,549, while the Elite model retails for $1,899. Both models ship with a 20-round Magpul PMag.
