New for 2022, Smith & Wesson has unveiled a new addition to its lineup of M&P9 M2.0 striker-fired pistols with the introduction of the M&P9 M2.0 Metal OR. Unlike other M&P9 2.0 pistols, the M&P9 M2.0 Metal OR features a frame made from billet T6 aluminum instead of polymer. This gives it an overall weight of 30 ozs. without a loaded magazine. It features a 4.25″ barrel with a 1:10″ right-hand twist for its 9 mm chambering. The stainless-steel slide, like other M&P9 M2.0 pistols, has included three-dot iron sights, as well as included slide serrations at the front and rear. An optic cut is machined into the slide for mounting red-dot optics, and the gun comes with a cover plate installed.

Controls include an ambidextrous slide catches on both sides, as well as a reversible magazine release button. The M&P9 M2.0 Metal OR also comes with a flat-faced trigger and enhanced sear, for faster follow up-shots. Other features of the aluminum frame include three Picatinny rail slots machined into the dust cover, as well as the ability to swap out polymer grip inserts, with four different sizes included from the factory. Chambered for 9 mm, it feeds from 17-round, double-stack magazines, of which two are included with the pistol.
