New For 2023: Heritage Mfg. Settler Series
Known for its affordable Rough Rider single-action rimfire revolvers, Heritage Manufacturing continues to not only add unique versions of its single-actions, but also branch out into other categories of Western-style firearms, such as its Rancher revolving carbines. Added to that line-up in 2023 is the company’s Settler series of .22 Long Rifle-chambered lever-actions.
The Settler rifle has a 20” barrel and full-size stock.
Firearms in the Settler series come in three formats: full-length rifle, compact rifle and a pistol. All three use an aluminum alloy receiver with a simulated case-hardened finish, a carbon steel barrel finished in black oxide and wooden furniture. Sights are a drift-adjustable front post with a brass bead and a buckhorn rear sight with elevation adjustment, and the top of the receiver is grooved for scope or optic mounting. The hammer-fired action uses a cross-bolt safety above the trigger and an under-barrel tubular magazine that is loaded by removing a spring-loaded plunger at the muzzle end of the tube and dropping rounds into the magazine.

The Settler Compact has a shorter stock and barrel, which reduces both its weight and overall length.
In the rifle category is the Settler, with a 20″ barrel and 15-round capacity and an enlarged lever loop. With a 16.50″ barrel and shortened stock, the Settler Compact is a full 6″ shorter than the full-sized rifle at 31.90″ overall, and just under a quarter-pound lighter, at 5 lbs., 3 ozs. Its capacity is 13 rounds. Both rifles have crescent metal buttplates and quick-detachable sling swivel studs.
The Settler Mare’s Leg plays homage to the classic T.V. Western lever-action pistol.
A staple of T.V. Westerns, the Settler Mare’s Leg is the classic lever-action in a pistol format. Its barrel is 12.50″ long, and it has a capacity of 10 rounds. A saddle ring on the receiver aids in carrying the handgun. The Mares Leg has an overall length of 23.25″ and weighs 4 lbs., 3 ozs.
