Introduced in 1958, the Savage 110 is “the oldest continuously manufactured bolt action rifle in North America”, according to the company. Originally designed to be light, accurate and affordable, over the six decades of its existence, the 110 has become popular with hunters and shooters who value those three attributes. The 110 lineup has been greatly expanded in recent years including “Elite” rifles, a moniker that Savage uses to denote its top-end “factory custom” products, such as the Elite Precision. New for 2024, Savage is introducing the 110 Ultralite Elite, a lightweight and compact rifle for the wilderness hunter.

The Ultralite Elite is based around a lightweight stainless-steel 110 receiver that uses a diamond-fluted bolt with a threaded handle and carbon fiber knob and a user-adjustable AccuTrigger unit. The receiver uses a standard 110 scope base pattern and a one-piece, 20-m.o.a. Picatinny scope rail comes mounted on the rifle. Feeding from an AICS-pattern magazine, a three-round, low-profile version is included. The action is mated to a PROOF Research carbon fiber wrapped stainless-steel barrel that has cut rifling and its muzzle threaded 5/8 x 24 TPI. An Omniport radial muzzle brake comes installed from the factory. All steel parts are given a matte black Cerakote finish.

The barreled action is placed in a MDT HNT26 chassis. This chassis uses a magnesium center section that is Cerakoted matte gray with a carbon fiber fore-end that has a built-in ARCA rail and M-Lok slots, and a carbon fiber pistol grip. The carbon fiber buttstock is foam-filled and has an adjustable cheek riser and length-of-pull. It folds to make the rifle more compact for storage and transport. As the name implies, the complete chassis weighs 26 ozs.

The 110 Ultralite Elite is offered with a short action chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, .308 Win. and .300 WSM and a long action chambered in .300 Win. Mag. or 7mm PRC. The rifle weighs between 5 lbs., 13 ozs. for short-action models to 6 lbs. for long-action models. All chamberings are offered with a 20” barrel, except the .308 Win. and 6.5 Creedmoor, each of which has an 18” barrel.

The Savage 110 Ultralite Elite has a MSRP of $3,299. For more information, visit savagearms.com.
