Armed Citizen® Today

An altercation between two men resulted in the aggressor being shot by an armed citizen at the scene on the evening of Monday, Nov. 6, 2023.

At 6 p.m., two men in Shelby, N.C., got into a verbal altercation that ended after each man went their separate ways, according to police. However, the aggressor returned to the scene 30 minutes later with a gun and shot the man he had argued with earlier, hitting him in the face and shoulder. A woman police are calling a “concerned citizen” was on scene and was legally carrying a concealed firearm. She drew her gun and fired five times, hitting the 33-year-old aggressor with all five shots.

The man shot by the armed aggressor suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the 33-year-old suspect is in critical condition and faces felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, firearm possession by a felon and assault by pointing a gun. “I do not expect any charges on the person that returned fire,” Shelby Police Capt. Seth Treadway said of the legally armed woman. (The Shelby Star; Shelby, N.C.; 11/6/23)

Tampa, Fla., night service station operator Alfonso Pierce was approached by a man with a gun and told to “reach.” Pierce took a .38-cal. revolver from his pocket and fired three shots as the bandit ran.
