Armed Citizen® Today

An alleged intruder in a Lubbock, Texas, house was detained at gunpoint and held for police by an armed homeowner on April 5, 2023.

That day, a woman whom police described as having “a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” opened the door of a stranger’s house and entered. The homeowner heard a noise at his door and grabbed his gun. He confronted the allegedly inebriated woman and asked her to leave, and she refused.

Police were called to the residence at the report of a “burglary in progress” and arrived to find the woman being detained by the homeowner. Reports from the police were that the woman was confused and disoriented. She was taken into custody and charged for public intoxication. Nobody was injured, and no property was damaged in the incident. (Everything Lubbock; Lubbock, Texas; 4/5/23)

Idaho Falls, Idaho, furniture storeowner Nick Vrontikis responded when the store’s burglar alarm activated one evening. As he stood, armed with a pistol, in the darkened establishment, the shopkeeper heard noises coming from the back room. There, among some mattresses, Vrontikis discovered an intruder and held him at gunpoint until police arrived. (The Post-Register; Idaho Falls, Idaho)
