A homeowner in Phoenix, Ariz., opened fire on two intruders when they allegedly tried to break into the homeowner’s residence on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

Sometime before 8 a.m. that morning, the two alleged robbers attempted to break into a home, only to encounter a homeowner willing to defend his life and property. The homeowner fired on and struck both of the intruders, who were discovered lying on the ground with gunshot wounds in front of the home when police arrived shortly before 8 a.m.

Officers carried the two wounded men, believed to be in their 20s, to awaiting paramedics, who took them to a local hospital. Both intruders, however, succumbed to their injuries. Herbert Cameron and his wife had checked into a Blanco, Texas, motel when someone knocked on the door of their room. Believing it to be the manager, Cameron opened the door, only to have three armed men knock him down as they entered. In an exchange of gunfire in which Cameron himself was wounded, the motel occupant opened fire with his revolver, killing two of his attackers and wounding the third. A county sheriff said that no charges would be placed against Cameron, adding that all three suspects had lengthy police records. (The American-Statesman, Austin, Texas)
