8 Oregon Counties Approve Gun Rights Measure
Knowing that the Second Amendment itself isn’t enough to guarantee gun rights in some jurisdictions, voters in eight Oregon counties passed a ballot measure that would further protect the right to own semi-automatic firearms and so-called high-capacity magazines.
The “Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance” declares that those living in counties that approved the measure will not lose their gun rights, regardless of state or federal law changes.
The eight counties that passed the measure include: Baker, Columbia, Douglas, Klamath, Lake, Linn, Umatilla and Union. Jackson and Lincoln counties rejected it.

The initiative was put forward by a group calling itself the Committee for the Preservation of the Second Amendment. The pitch included pointing out the fact that the Oregon Legislature has been under the thumb of liberals, leaving state residents open to nanny-state control propagated by such anti-gunners as Michael Bloomberg.
