Springfield, VA – Gun Owners of America (GOA) Senior Vice President Erich Pratt released the following statement after President Joe Biden renewed a call for gun control, including Universal Background Registration Checks, a ban on so-called “assault weapons” and holding gun manufacturers responsible for the deeds of a criminal:

“Biden is using the tragedy of Parkland as an excuse to virtue signal for his radical gun control agenda. Biden claims his administration ‘will not wait for the next mass shooting’ to act on gun control, but that is a lie. He knows the measures he calls for will most likely be defeated while the filibuster remains in existence. The true battle to pass or defeat gun control in Congress is the filibuster.

“Additionally, GOA has detailed Biden’s gun control plan, and how gun control could actually pass in this Congress. His empty statement blows hot air while seeking to appear as not ‘politicizing’ the next tragedy, but in reality, is already playing politics with the victims of the Parkland shooting.

“Finally, President Biden and other anti-gunners like Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer are releasing these calls for gun control — which disarm and criminalize millions of average Americans — while not only enjoying Secret Service protection, but also security provided National Guard troops and walls with barbed wire. Truly, these anti-gun Leftists want ‘guns for me, but not for thee.’”
