Henry is departing from its usual lineup of lever-action rifles and single-shot shotguns in 2023, announcing instead the company’s first-ever pistol-caliber carbine. The Henry Homesteader is a unique design that utilizes a two-piece stock and a solid-body, one-piece receiver that accepts detachable box magazines.

The base model uses Henry’s proprietary magazine, but adapters will be available for Glock, Smith & Wesson M&P and SIG Sauer P320 handgun magazines. Controls are entirely bilateral, with a centrally mounted tang safety at the rear of the receiver and an equally accessible magazine release located forward of the magazine well.

The charging handle ships from the factory on the right side of the bolt, but the left side of the receiver features a cutout that allows users to swap the handle’s location. A mirrored bolt hold-open latch on either side of the trigger guard rounds out the controls. The carbine is outfitted with a 16″ barrel and includes ghost-ring sights and a Picatinny optics rail.
