First Look: CMMG Dissent Large-Format Pistol
CMMG is introducing the Dissent line of large format, AR-style pistols. These new guns offer increased portability thanks to their buffer-less design that uses the company’s patent-pending Compact Action. The Dissent is available chambered in 5.56 NATO, .300 BLK and 5.7×28 mm. Each model sports a 6.5-inch free-floated barrel that is complemented with a 5.5-inch M-Lok handguard for added flexibility. These features make the Dissent the shortest, most compact PDW-style firearm that CMMG has ever built.
At the heart of the Dissent is CMMG’s patent-pending Compact Action, which makes it possible to operate the firearm without a receiver extension and buffer assembly. The Compact Action uses a set of dual guide rods and springs that are contained within the upper receiver in order to cycle the action. This system is compatible with a direct impingement operating system as well as CMMG’s patented Radial Delayed Blowback operating systems.
The Dissent features a forward non-reciprocating side charger that gives the shooter the ability to charge the weapon while staying focused down range and on their target. A right-side configured side charger for use by left-handed shooters is available for purchase separately.
The Dissent comes outfitted with CMMG Zeroed parts and accessories, giving you AR-15 modularity with superior firepower, all in a small familiar package. The pistol is initially offered in three different calibers with .300 BLK and 5.56 NATO utilizing a direct-impingement operating system, while the 5.7×28 mm version uses CMMG’s patented Radial Delayed Blowback operating system. Both the .300 BLK and 5.56 NATO versions accept 30-round Magpul PMAGS, while the 5.7×28 mm accepts 32-round CMMG 5.7×28 mm Gen II conversion magazine. All Dissent firearms will ship with two magazines.
The trigger on the Dissent is the TriggerTech AR-D 2-Stage Trigger, which has been designed for optimal performance. The rear of the Dissent is outfitted with a 1913 Picatinny Rail that allows users to attach a sling, brace or stock (all NFA rules apply). The firearm weighs in at 73.6 ounces, with an overall length of 14.7 inches without a brace or a stock. This small size gives you a compact package that can be easily maneuvered and deployed within seconds.
MSRP for the 5.56 NATO, .300 BLK or 5.7×28 mm version of the Dissent is $1,995, and for more information about this pistol or other products from CMMG, please visit cmmg.com.
