If Rittenhouse Can Be Acquitted, Marvin Guy Needs To Stop Rotting In Jail Without Trial For Defending Himself From Cops

In the land of the free, every citizen is guaranteed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Sadly, however, this guarantee is often suspended for many folks who rot in jail for years waiting to prove their innocence or in the case of Kyle Rittenhouse, they are deemed guilty by the media and political opponents and their chances of a fair trial become slim.

In the case of Kyle Rittenhouse, once his case finally went before a jury, and once one of the witnesses who was actually shot by Rittenhouse, testified that Rittenhouse didn’t shoot him until he pointed the gun at Rittenhouse, the prosecution’s case began to fall apart.

What’s more, the country learned that the FBI secretly flies drones over protests and films everything we are doing — including Joseph Rosenbaum chasing down a fleeing Rittenhouse and attacking him before being shot. The exonerating power of this utterly Orwellian footage proved to be the nail in the coffin of the prosecution’s case and on Friday, Rittenhouse was cleared of all charges.

Though many in the media attempted to use this case to demonize millions of people for their political beliefs and to stoke racial divide, and though they tried their hardest to make him look like a “white supremacist domestic terrorist” who went on a shooting spree, once the facts came out, it appears that he was some just naive kid who made poor decisions.

He is most assuredly not the hero the right portrays him as but he is also not the racist terrorist mass shooter that corporate media made him out to be over the last year.

There is one aspect of Rittenhouse’s trial that we’d like to draw attention to, however, and that is the speed in which it unfolded. Rittenhouse stayed out of jail for most of the time after the shooting and will now remain free man for the rest of his life. Others, however, have not been given such speedy trials, nor have their cases garnered the attention of billionaire political blowhards willing to pay their bail.

Marvin Guy is one of these people and if Kyle Rittenhouse can be given such a speedy trial in the midst of this media blitz against him, there is absolutely no reason Guy shouldn’t receive the same treatment.

Because he’s yet to proven guilty, Marvin Guy is innocent until proven so. And for the last 7 years, he’s been innocent, in jail — with no trial.

Like Kyle Rittenhouse, Marvin Guy acted in self defense as armed invaders attacked him. Unlike Rittenhouse, however, Guy was in his own home when he was attacked.

As The Free Thought Project first reported in 2014, Marvin Guy is facing the death penalty. Guy shot and killed Detective Charles Dinwiddie and injured several other Killeen police officers, as they were attempting to forcefully enter Guy’s home on May 9, 2014, at 5:30 am.

Police had been surveilling Guy’s home for some time after an informant claimed Guy was trafficking a large quantity of cocaine. At some point in the investigation, the decision was made to enter Guy’s home and attempt to find evidence which would corroborate the informant’s claim.

But after entering the residence, in a show of force which resulted in the loss of life of a veteran police officer, no drugs, not even a single marijuana joint was found.

The consequence for the police incursion resulted in one detective’s death, and yet another Black man being charged with homicide. Unlike Rittenhouse, Guy’s fate has yet to be determined, as he is awaiting trial for Dinwiddie’s murder which would not have occurred had the police not attempted to enter his home unannounced.

Even if the police had identified themselves before attempting to enter Guy’s home, there have been enough crimes committed by criminals posing as police, to justify Guy’s decision to defend his life from intruders.

According to many jailhouse interviews conducted by KDH News, Guy told reporters “he was simply defending himself when his bedroom window was broken out that morning.”

Complicating matters further for the prosecution in Guy’s case is the fact that a precedent has already been set in a similar case. As The Free Thought Project reported, charges against Henry Goedrich Magee were dropped following a TX grand jury’s refusal to indict Magee on capital murder charges for the shooting death of Burleson County Sgt. Adam Sowders, after the sergeant led a team of police officers into Magee’s residence using the same “no-knock” search warrant method.

Magee claimed he was protecting his home and his pregnant girlfriend, the exact same claim Guy made upon his arrest. Like Rittenhouse, Magee was moved through the justice system swiftly.

After the grand jury refused to indict Magee, the case against him was dropped, just a few short months after the shooting occurred, quite a contrast from Guy’s imprisonment. Guy has been sitting in jail for seven years awaiting his day in court.

The discrepancies in the way Magee and Rittenhouse were treated and how Guy’s case is being handled have largely gone unnoticed just like Guy’s extended prison term with no trial. However, a pastor out of New York, Nick Gentile, and a group of activists at the Grass Roots Law Project are doing their best to expose the injustice.

On a website started by Gentile, freemarvinguy.com, Gentile explains how Guy’s situation is set up to fail.

Justice in Marvin’s case would take the form of a fair trial, before an impartial jury of his peers, which we believe entails a change of venue because there is sufficient evidence to conclude that Marvin will not receive a fair trial in Bell County/Killeen, and good, honest legal representation which is what Marvin has been sorely lacking during his entire duration in jail. Marvin has been charged with Capital Murder and is in desperate need of legal help because if convicted of the crimes he’s been charged with he faces the Death Penalty.

If you can defend Kyle Rittenhouse for defending himself against his attackers, than you should do the same for Marvin Guy even if his attackers were wearing badges.
