Kimber Issues R7 Mako Pistol Safety Recall
Kimber has recently discovered a quality issue involving the firing pin safety block on a small number of Kimber R7 model pistols. The condition creates a possibility that affected pistols could release multiple rounds from a single trigger pull, and the company has issued a safety recall on a few that were shipped from Jan. 10, 2022, through Feb. 14, 2022.
The recall applies only to certain serial numbers within those shipping dates. Owners of R7 Mako pistols should discontinue their use immediately and visit a special web page set up by the company that lists serial numbers subject to this notice.
If the handgun is included in this safety recall, owners should contact Kimber by calling (888) 243-4522, Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST and mention the call is about the R7 firing pin safety block recall. You can also e-mail [email protected]. Both options enable arrangement for the return of the handgun for examination and, if necessary, work needed to correct the problem, free of charge.

After confirmation that an owner’s firearm is subject to the recall, you will receive a return merchandise authorization and prepaid shipping label for its return to Kimber. The company will then inspect, perform the work and return the handgun as soon as possible.
There is no charge to the owner for the service. All shipping, handling and work on the firearm is covered by Kimber. Owners of R7 Makos that have already been sent to company will also have their pistol’s remediated for the issue identified by this recall notice. Full details on the recall are available on the company’s safety webpage.
