A suspect was taken into custody after opening fire at an Indiana school on Friday, injuring one adult and one child.

Bryant Orem, a spokesman for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, claims that the suspect acted alone when he opened fire at Noblesville West Middle School.

A teacher and a student have been injured and a student has been detained after a shooting at Noblesville West Middle School in Indiana Friday, authorities said.

A male student has been detained in connection with the shooting, Noblesville Police Chief Kevin Jowitt said at a press conference Friday morning. Now the teacher who stopped the shooting is being hailed as a hero.

Police received a call of an active shooter at the schools at about 9:06 a.m. Eastern Time. Noblesville Police Chief Kevin Jowitt said the male student asked to be excused and left a classroom. He then returned to the classroom with two handguns.

“Preliminary information is that a male student asked to be excused from his class. He left the classroom he then returned armed with two hand guns. That’s where the activities occurred,” said Noblesville Police Chief Kevin Jowitt.

CBS affiliate WTTV reports the injured student is a 13-year-old girl. Another student suffered a broken ankle.

Jason Seaman, the science teacher and football coach, is being hailed as a hero after tackling the shooter and taking a bullet to protect students.

He issued a statement from his hospital bed.

CBS News reports:

Seventh-grader Ethan Stonebraker says the class was taking a test when the student walked in late, pulled out a gun and started firing.

He says the teacher “immediately ran at him, swatted a gun out of his hand and tackled him to the ground.” Stonebraker adds, “if it weren’t for him, more of us would have been injured for sure.”

A student who asked not to be identified told WTTV the gunman fired about three to five shots, one of which hit a girl sitting about 10 feet from him. That’s when he said the science teacher tackled the gunman.

“He tackled him to the ground, we were all hiding in the back of a classroom behind some desks, then he was yelling to call 911 to get out of the building as fast as we could, so we ran down the stairs,” the student said.

Some couldn’t believe something like this would happen in Noblesville.

Dylan Relf, a freshman at Noblesville High School, said, “I’m in complete shock. I didn’t know anything like that would happen.”

“You think it’s never going to happen in your community, in your city,” said parent Todd Darlington.

Well, it does.  The solutions by Communists in this country are to infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens, while those on the “right” call for bigger government in the form of a policeman stationed at every school at the expense of taxpayers, including those who do not even use the government indoctrination centers known as public schools.

The real solution is to remove the label of “gun free zones” from schools and stop infringing on the rights of teachers to carry their arms, which is protected under the Second Amendment.  When we start talking about that and reversing constitutional and unlawful “laws” that infringe on those rights, then we can begin to see solutions that don’t grow government and don’t cost taxpayers any more money.  Until then, we are advancing tyranny in one form or another.

As for the teacher, he is a hero in this situation!  Well done, Mr. Seaman!
