After arriving at his deceased father’s property for a check of the residence, a 61-year-old man discovered a burglary in process and opened fire on the intruder inside the Las Vegas, Nev., house on March 2, 2023.
Around 2 a.m., the 61-year-old man, the son of the homeowner who had passed away the week before, arrived to check up on the property. When he entered the home, he discovered an alleged intruder who had broken into the residence. The armed man opened fire, killing the 38-year-old burglar.

An office worker leaving her Harris County, Texas, office building was accosted by a man who tried to rob her. At first, she struggled with her assailant, but then agreed to give him jewelry. Instead, she drew a gun from her purse and fatally shot her attacker. The man was on parole for robbery and theft. (The Chronicle, Houston, Texas)
