A homeowner in Walterboro, S.C., took action when he encountered two alleged robbers trying to break in on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022.
Around 10 p.m., the homeowner was inside his house when two men, both armed with handguns, attempted to force their way in through the front door. In response to this, the homeowner armed himself and opened fire, striking one of the duo. The other intruder ran from the home and jumped into a nearby sedan, which fled the scene, leaving his stricken partner behind.

When authorities arrived later that night, they found the left-behind, 25-year-old second intruder on the front porch, dead from a single gunshot wound. After burglars violated their Houston, Texas, home for the fifth time, Lonnie Brown gave his wife, Irene, a revolver for protection. When a man broke through the rear window, the 64-year-old woman was ready and fired, killing the intruder. A knife was recovered by police at the scene; the incident was referred up to a grand jury without charges. (The Chronicle, Houston, Texas)
