A woman in Austin, Texas, called police around 5:30 a.m. April 18, saying a man was trying to break in, then that he succeeded, followed by the sound of gunshots.  Police found the home invader, a 61-year-old stranger to the residents, dead at the scene. A round 9 p.m. on April 18, two armed men allegedly pushed their way into a home in Glasgow, Del., while a third man waited outside. The home invaders reportedly began taking items from the home but also threatened the homeowner. The homeowner shot and killed one suspect and struck the other, who fled. The alleged accomplice who had waited outside drove him to a hospital, where both men were taken into custody. The men face charges of first-degree assault and burglary.  (wdel.com, Wilmington, Del., 4/19/23)

A man in Baton Rouge, La., heard someone banging on his door around 10 p.m. April 24. When he opened the door, a man rushed in and started punching him. However, the resident had armed himself before opening the door, so when the man forced his way in and attacked, the armed citizen was able to shoot the intruder in self-defense. The home invader died from the gunshot wounds. Police told reporters they believed the shooting was justified. (wbrz.com, Baton Rouge, La., 4/25/23)
