A naked intruder was held at gunpoint by a Bismarck, N.D., homeowner until police officers arrived to take the man into custody on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023.

At 3 a.m., police were called to the scene of a burglary at a local residence. The homeowner told officers that he and his wife had been awakened by loud noises in the house. When the man went out to investigate, he found the intruder, yelled for his wife to call 911, retrieved his gun and held the suspect until officers arrived. An investigation revealed that the intruder had apparently made his way into the house through an unlocked rear door. The noises were made as the naked man stumbled through a child’s unoccupied bedroom, throwing clothing and toys.

Police say the man told the homeowner that he was there for his clothes, and the officers indicated the man was “highly intoxicated.” The intruder has been charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. (Bismarck Tribune; Bismarck, N.D.; 10/6/23)

The 45th robbery of Albert Ekstrom’s Bridgeport, Conn., grocery was too much for him. Ekstrom, 72, grabbed his pistol and chased the would-be holdup man out of his store. Soon afterward, police arrested a 17-year-old suspect. (The Connecticut Sunday Herald; Bridgeport, Conn.)
