A Indianapolis, Ind., man and his girlfriend found themselves in a precarious situation on Aug. 3, 2022, when a group of people allegedly surrounded his car and attempted to rob them. Sometime around 4 a.m. that Wednesday morning, the group approached the car in which the couple was sitting and opened one of the car doors, holding the occupants at gunpoint. In response to the sudden threat, the man drew his own firearm and opened fire on his would-be assailants. One of the foiled robbers also returned fire, striking only the car. The man’s shots found their mark on one of the group, mortally wounding one of the accomplices.

The other members of the group fled the scene, leaving their stricken accomplice. When authorities arrived, they determined that the slain robber was 16 years old and had an illegally possessed pistol on his person. a neighbor of the area said in response to news of the incident, “It’s sad to say, but you have to do what you have to do, because these last few months have been hectic out here.” (fox59.com, Indianapolis, Ind., 08/03/2022)

A Meraux, La., woman became suspicious when a man following her car flashed what he claimed was police identification and ordered her to pull over. When the individual posing as a plainclothes police officer asked her to step into his car, the woman replied that she would if he called a marked police car to the scene. Drawing a revolver from her purse, the woman then ordered the man to leave. The imposter fled. (The Times-Picayune, New Orleans, La.)
