Yesterday, the Texas Legislature accepted the conference committee report for House Bill 1927, their constitutional/permitless carry bill. It will now go to Governor Greg Abbott for his signature. He has previously stated his intention to sign a constitutional carry bill. Once he signs it, Texas will be the 21st constitutional carry state, joining the other four states that have passed such legislation in 2021.

While Texas beat Alabama to be 21st, Alabama still has the chance to be the 22nd next year. Rep. Shane Stringer has prefiled House Bill 6 for 2022, to allow law-abiding adults to carry handguns for self-defense without first having to go through government red tape or pay fees. Please contact your state representative and ask them to support HB 6 in 2022.
